Hi,

the following scenario is given: I have the task to programm an very simple application which is able to show the video of an incoming IP-Stream. I get the stream and can watch it with the free VLC Mediaplayer (by selecting UDP and the Port).

I have one special kind of network here (Siemens OTN), which is able to get the analogue signal from the camera, transform it (with special Mpeg-Encoding-Cards) into a digital signal and send it over the network (fiber optic) to a special card which transfers up to 60 mpeg-streams onto an IP-Stream. With a special Software I tell this IP-card the IP of the client to which the stream is sent, so I need only set up the right port in VLC Player and getting the video.

The encoding unit can handle either mpeg2 or mpeg4. I prefer mpeg4.

Now I want to program a small an very simple Java application which is able to display the live video. A colleague told me I have to watch for an special decoding library to do this, but I have absolutely no idea how to do this?!

Has anybody some answers or comments how to do this and may help me?! Where can I get such a special decoding library (mpeg4)?

Many thanks,
Jan Stanetzki
