How can I program the MICS to display a dummy outgoing number e.g. (000)000-0000

Use Outgoing Line ID under terminals and sets for each ext. In my experience, this is only available with PRI and BRI ISDN due to the out0of0band signaling. I don't think I got 000 000 0000 to work, I belive I had to put 111 111 1111 in my application.

a note of caution about this is that two possible troubles can occur when you make changes as discussed above. first the 911 people may not get the correct info (depending on the type of 911 center they have. TEST this out) second is that your long distance providor may use these digits to identify account billing and may cause serious troubles. JerryReeve

All 911 systems use ANI not caller ID to read information, so I don't think that will be a problem, the same for carriers.

IXC and LEC/CLEC use of ANI vs CPN vary by locality and switching office... do NOT assume that 'all carriers use ANI'... that is not universal. I work with SEVERAL installations with the CLEC involved (PRI) converts customer supplied CLID/CPN to be ANI to the public network.

I will have to repeat one portion (TEST this out) there is no guarantee on which way it will display even the 911 centers. This portion of the PRI was to enable 911 centers to know exactly what telephone a call came from and not just the main billing number. Also I have had enough troubles with Long Distance carriers to know that they do not have universal knowledge of where a call comes from. They had to load all of the DID #'s in order to allow the calls from the individual telephones, they were not happy! They felt that we should be giving them the main # and not the DID #. JerryReeve
