I am setting up a PC what will run as "heads up" server/network monitor. I want it visible all day but I do still want to delay burn-in.

I would like to have the screen wake up @ 8:00 AM and go into screen saver mode @ 5:00 PM. I can set the Windows Screen saver for 540 min. delay but that still requires my intervention to wake the screen in the morning.

Using free tools can anyone suggest a way to do this?

Assuming it's somewhere close by (since you need to be able to see it), might I suggest you turn the monitor on in the morning when you arrive for work...and turn it off when you leave?

It just means my answers are from experience, not a book.

Or buy a $5 timer from the hardware store and plug the monitor into it...

Now now...he said "free"... ;-)

Lol, but the programming interface is very user friendly...

I can barely remember to take my phone off cover in the morning, which is why I'm trying to automate. Memory is tough for us "old" guys ;-) (Besides, I'm lazy - I like to sit and watch stuff happen automatically instead of actually having to do something. LOL

A good old fashioned timer...talk about "out of the box" thinking! I just may go that way.

I'm a firm believer in the old KISS! axiom (keep it simple, stupid!).
