Hey

My Computer has started to slow down; I looked at the programmes running a one was taken up a lot of memory. The programme is SPBBCSvc.exe which is a Symantec programme. I restarted my computer and looked again and the programme just keeps taking more memory until it get to high and my computer gets to slow.

Has anyone got any ideas how to solve the problem?

What particular program? Sounds like it is enabled at startup. To disable it (if you don't need it), go to Start-->Run, and type msconfig, and click the startup tab, and disable anything you don't think you need.

This isn't a hardware problem. Are you using Norton Antivirus?

Google for the file name and you'll find a lot of similar complaints on the web, some with fixes.

My personal advice is to stay away from Norton but unfortunately it comes preinstalled on many PCs & notebooks.
Even worse, it's going to be a pain down south to uninstall.

I have stopped the programme starting up which has seemed to solved the problem.

It is a Norton programme the subscription has recently run out which mite be the problem.

Has anyone got any ideas on better virus protection?

There's Grisoft's AVG (free or paid). I've been using the free version for years without problems. I'm very happy with it but to be on the safe side I run an online scan every now & then.
