We have a largish document library whose sheer size is beginning to affect the performance of apps that manipulate the docs. It's gotten to the point at which the doc library page takes forever to render.

I was thinking that I should sub-divide the library with folders, organized by customer, which would divide the library into considerably smaller pieces. I thought that maybe I could play with the leaf fields in mysite_SITE.docs and make this happen without manual tedium or goofy .NET programming.

Has anyone been through something similar, and, if so, tell me your war story.

tks,

A virtual machine ate my accounting data. I transferred it to a physical box, then I beat it to smithereens with a sledgehammer. I feel better.
