This is my first time using tek-tips. So, I'm sorry if I'm lacking the necessary etiquette.
My knowledge of the Adobe Acrobat (v5), Adobe Acrobat SDK, API and object model is very limited (I just started using Adobe Acrobat). I've seen multiple threeds where TGreer responded and I know he has the knowledge, I just haven't been able to find a sample.
So here goes...
The problem, simple put, is that I need to be able to programmatically create links in a PDF file (created from multiple sources) to:
1) other locations in the document
2) files on the internet
I don't care whether I'm modifying the document after it is in PDF format or somewhere in between, the key is that it needs to be done programmatically.
The PDF sources will be Access, Excel and Word. The code will actually be in Access VBA. Unless I'm pointed into an easier or better way, I was planning on using the PrintOut command to export all related files to PS/PRN format and generating a PS file to merge the documents together with Distiller. I don't know how to programmatically send an Access report to PS/PRN format, so I might just export the report to rtf then use word to print to file.
Either way, the end result will be as follows:
Page 1 - Intro letter (word doc) with links to other pages and internet.
Page 2 - Misc Access Report
Page 3-7 - Misc Excel Charts
I just recently discovered how to automate Distiller. Well, that's the basics. The program will be creating a couple hundred reports a month.
