I'm pretty new to PDFs (I've used them to read many times but never tried more than 'print to pdf' to create one.), and I have a need that would be much easier if it could be done programatically.

We need to insert a name and specific number into a PDF. We can do that manually, then email them the document, but it would be much easier to automate this. That way I can have it on a web site on a download page, and the site can insert 'George Jetson, #12' at the appropriate spot when the user goes to download the document. The other option I thought of was saving "X" numbered pdfs on the site and only showing the user the appropriate one. But, that takes space.

Are there any options for this? I've heard of bates stamping and this is somewhat similar, but is it similar enough, and can it be used on a site?

Thanks for anyone's suggestions.

Mike.
