Program Voice Mail

I'm programming the voice mail and would like to achieve the following after callers dial the main number:

1. Please press 8 for the billing dept -> (after pressing 8) please press 1 for ext. 1179. press 2 for ext. xyz, press 3, ect...

2. Please press 5 for the pharmacy line (which then rings a specific extension).

If someone would be so kind to provide explicit instructions on how to do this. Merlin Legend system. I'm and IT guy not a phone guy so please be detailed.

Well, it would be helpful to know which voice mail you are using along with your Merlin Legend.

Generically speaking, you need to log into the System Administrator's mailbox, follow the prompts to go to the Auto Attendant, select submenus, create submenu number 8, set selector code 1 in submenu 8 to Direct Extension Transfer, and record the directory.

Then select the Day or Night menu of the Auto Attendant, modify it, set selector code 8 to go to submenu 8, and selector code 5 to Selector Code Transfer to the pharmacy extension, and selector code 1 to Direct Extension Transfer. Record the message, and you should be good to go.

Oh, and is it already answering, or do you need to also point the lines to the Auto Attendant?
