program question

I am A project manager for a heavy highway construction co. and I was wondering if there was a program that I could use to create pay estimates. This is what I mean, say I went out in the field and we installed a catch basin, some 300mm pipe, and loamed an area. Is there a program that could let me point to that catch basin on autocad with a drop down menu and for instance add Item#, date, and station location if changed for plan. Then I could tranfer all pay items to a spread sheet. Thank You

You can set up attributes to accomplish this... don't know if they can be used for the detail required, but they can cover a lot of information.
