Program only runs under remote access

Our users have two PCs each and on one of the machines a bespoke program has stopped working (the PC is w2k). (It generates an error to be sent to Microsoft.) However if the user connects to the machine via remote desktop from his XP machine the program runs fine.

I don't really know much about the inner workings of remote desktop, but could this possibly be a drivers issue?

My guess is a compatability issue.

Upgrade the machine to XP, as it has a very extensive set of tools to allow older applications to run. This is a genuuine feature of XP that Win2k cannot match.
