I recently upgraded a clients computers from 95 to 98. Ever since the upgrade the "program menu" takes about 15 seconds to "fly out". Everything is there and all the shortcuts work fine, its just very irritating to wait for it to open. I've never heard of this. Has anyone else. If so were you able to fix it.

15 seconds is a heck of a long time! It sounds like there may be a Registry entry left from Win95 that is causing it. Try running Regclean and then TueakUI which has an option to set the menu speed. If you don't have them they are available free from the Microsoft website and many file download sites.

Good Luck!

I dont know if you need PLUS for this but you can go to Desktop Properties:Effects: and uncheck "Animate windows, menus and lists"

You might try navigating to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop with the Registry Editor. Change the value of the MenuShowDelay setting to "0" (0 milliseconds delay).

Reboot and see if your menus don't open a little faster.

Don't try this if you aren't comfortable with regedit.

Thanks for all the good advice. I suspected it to be a reg. problem and now I have some conformation. That's always nice. I've tried checking some of the overall menu settings, but the problem only exists with the "Programs Menu". Thanks again for all the help.
