OS = Windows 7 Enterprise
Citrix = 12.0.3.6 (Citrix ICA Client specifically)

I imagine this sounds a really strange question or idea. To clarify what I'm after, here it is:

Where I work, we use Citrix for remote desktop connections - well, at least I do, I don't think everybody does, but it seems the most predominant method currently.

Well, I began getting really annoyed with how that I cannot use the Windows shortcuts that I'm used to using.

Well, I tried searching, and found some alternative shortcuts to use with Citrix, but they don't seem to work in my installation - not sure if it's Windows 7 vs the list, or some security settings over the network or what.

Regardless, I just thought of a possible workaround, and thought I'd ask here about how to go about programming it.

So what I want to do is keep a few shortcuts that could be run from the desktop or quicklaunch. And each of those shortcuts would be to run a different keystroke or keystroke combination that I feel practically sick without.

Here are the first ones I can think of:
[ol][li]<PrtScn> - I use Snag-It at work, so <Alt>+<PrtScn> isn't ideal compared to that... most of the time.[/li]
[li]<Alt>+<Tab>[/li]
[li]<Alt>+<F4>[/li]
[li]<WindowsKey>+<D>[/li][/ol]

I'm sure there are others that don't work correctly that I'd like to work, but if I can just get those going, that's at least 95% of what I wish I could use remotely.

Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions. I'm fine with setting up a few Windows Batch files, each for a diff shortcut, and then just reference them through desktop shortcuts...

Thanks for any thoughts... I'll see what I can find online now that my mind is wandering in that direction. I'll post back if I find anything on my own in the mean time.

I know it sounds crazy... but I may just do it in a database. So I'd open it whenever working remotely, and just have the thing sorta tucked to the side of the screen, and just run a SendKeys command whenever I want to do that... maybe... Probably being too silly about the whole thing. [blush]

If you're using Remote Desktop Connection to connect to your Citrix server can you not set your Keyboard (on the Local Resources tab) to apply the Windows key combinations?

Hope this helps.

That sounds familiar... But I don't remember. I'll try looking some time later... this evening or this weekend.. I can't remote into my desktop right now to see, b/c I'm at my desktop. [smile]

Still haven't even tried looking at this... may need to remote in some this evening, so if think of it then, I'll look...
