I need information or tips about how to define a "universal" profile under windows 2000 professional in order to avoid to create a new profile every time that a user is logging across a different work station.

What you need to use is domain-based profiles, which are stored on the server. From the server, you have to define the location where their profile is stored. Then, when they log onto different machines, the profile will follow them around.
