Profile with 3 boxes instead of a word or name

At times, a new profile is being created in my folder and instead of a word, 3 box-like characters are being displayed. Whenever I delete the folder from my directory, it intermittenly creates a similar folder every time. Don't know whether anybody is experiencing the same problem but I would appreciate any type of assistance.
