The first user to log into Windows 2000 Professional encounters no errors using or logging off the PC. The second user can log in but cannot log out, restart, or shutdown.
Whether the user tries selecting Log Off from the Start Menu, or using CTRL+ALT+DEL Log Off, no running programs are closed and no errors are reported. Nor does Windows do anything when the user selects Shutdown or Restart from either location.
If the user checks the Task Manager, no programs are reported as Not
Responding, and there are no oddly behaving processes in the process
list.
If the user ends the explorer process, he is stuck with a blank screen (theCTRL+ALT+DEL dialogue is available, but useless.)
This occurs regardless of either user's privilege levels. Even
Administrator cannot log out, restart or shutdown.
I'm running Windows 2000 SP3, there is not domain
Thanks for any help in advance. I'm trying to avoid a reinstall.
Thanks
