I installed windows 2000 server and 2000 professional for network server and all client PCs. I want to use the profile to keep the desktop setting (include printer), how can I set the profile?

First make a shared folder on the server named profiles (or something similar).
Use one workstation with a particular USer account. make it work with all the settings you want to apply for all your users (Desktop, wallpaper, icons, resolution, printers, start menu programs, etc).Log off after you make sure everything works the way you want.Log in with admin rights, but with a different account..browse the computer C:-->Documents and Settings-->(The user account you used to set the profile) and copy this folder content to the shared folder in the server, named profiles.
After this, If each user has an acount on the server, go to its properties, under Profile Tab, and point it to this location on the server (Profiles folder).
This can vary if each suer will have a different profile. You wil have to make different folders with each user name under the Profiles folder, and make them to ponit to each respective profile..
I hope it helps you

Hi,

If you want to keep the the desktop setting (include printer), try to use roaming profiles you can specify these seeting sin usermanager , user properies and in profile option u can specify the path over there.

e.g. \\server\profiles\%username% or \\server\%username%
