Hello from Africa

Iam a computer enthusiast who has taken special interest in data recovery techniques and tools. I want to take my data recovery abilities from an amarture level to a professional level. Is there any reading material , tutorials and Labs on the net I could use ,I would appreciate some direction to the sites where I can find these docs. I want to create a "Lab" where I can assist students to do recoveries from what are the bare minimum Tools both Software and Hardwrae that I need to create this recovery label considering that Iam from one of the poorest African States.

Thank you

Thank you very much for the sites I found them useful. Now I need the second part of my question to be answered that is the minimum Hardware and Software tools I would require to start building this "Recovery Lab". Thank you in advance.

the answer to your questions & more can be found in the book Guide to Computer Forensics and Investigations.

it is now in a 2nd Edition, but the original is the one i have and gives a wealth of information; including diagrams of lab setup.

you can find these books @

be sure to click on the Compare Prices link for the best price

If you type the word security in the forum search, you will get a long list of forums. Included in that list are two more general security related forums, if you check faqs in those forums, you may find additional information that would be helpful to you.

Is there a chance that there is an eBook for this book , because I will make considerable savings if I can buy and not pay for shipping, Iam afraid that my shipping costs to Africa may be more than the price of the book.

Thanks again.

to my knowledge there is no eBook.
contact the publisher and see if they can assist.

Ask the publisher if the book fits in a U.S. Postal Service Global Priority Mail flat-rate envelope. Anything that weighs less than four pounds and fits in the envelope can be shipped for about $10, and will arrive in less than a week.
