I have been asked to come up with a way that our reports which are run in Crystal 7 from a VB 6 app can be produced in different languages without the need to save language specific .rpt files. It has been suggested that language specific captions could be stored in our database and passed to the report via parameters. Has anyone tried and succeeded in doing this ? A second problem I have is the formatting of dates and numbers, I get the impression that the correct formatting can only be achieved by running a language specific version of Crystal along with the correct locale settings and saving the report. Am I right or does Crystal provide the ability to call a VB function which would do the formatting ?
Many thanks

There is another option of creating a UFL (proprietary Crystal DLL) to pass the text, settings, fonts, etc.

Keep in mind that CR 7 was not Unicode compliant, so double byte characters will be a problem.

Anyway, the UFL always makes a call to retrieve the text, and the text can exist in a table or even a local text file.

That's how one large scale application does it, however they're on CR 9, and moving to CR XI.
