I currently have a Crystal Report 8.5 inside my VB6 application that I use a form with the crviewer to run, there are a few paramaters I pass with code.

My boss as an additional request now wants to generate the report, save as pdf, and mail it using MAPI along with other attachments without the user ever seeing the actual report in the viewer. I can handle the other attachments I just don't know how to generate the Crystal Report input the paramaters save etc without the user seeing it and without any user intervention.

Any suggestions as to how to do this would be appreciated.

Thanks

You can invoke this type of processing using my Visual CUT software utility. You may want to download the user manual from: and read page 12 where options for automatic or scheduled execution are discussed.

Thanks for the help I downloaded the manual and Visual CUT might be the answer after I read the manual.

with Visual CUT work with a .Dsr or will I need to save it as a .rpt in my app folder and call the .rpt ?

Keep in mind that the reports you intend to process must be opened at least once in Visual CUT.
At that point in time, all the settings (including the parameters) are saved by Visual CUT for later use when the software is invoked via the Windows Scheduler or a command line call.

Visual CUT requires access to a regular (*.rpt) report file.

Thanks for your help IdoMillet Visual CUT isn't going to do what this application needs done. But I have one coming up in the near future that I believe Visual CUT will be ideal for. I've made a note of your site and will contact you when I get involved in that project.

I just released an updated version of Visual CUT that accepts report parameters via command line arguments.

In case this was the missing functionality in your prior review, you may want to download the user manual again from:
and read page 15.

Thanks I downloaded it and will check it out.

Thanks again.
