I'm having trouble getting a ProCurve 2810-48G/mini-gbic (J4858B) to talk to a Nortel Passport 8600/450-SX gbic via multi-mode fiber. The link light on the passport switch comes on but the HP mini-gbic light doesn't. Also, when I view port status for the mini-gbic it shows that it's down. I've tried turning auto-negotiate off on both switches with no luck. Spanning tree is enabled on both switches. Any help is much appreciated, Thanks.

Are you sure the fiber is good? The link light means that the switch is receiving a signal (says nothing about the ability to transmit). If you turn the fiber pair over and the link light shows up on the Procurve then you have a damaged fiber.
