Does anyone know what it means if the port light on an HP Procurve 2524 switch blinks green very slowly? I replaced an old switch with the 2524 the other day and since then I have one patch cord that causes the port light to blink no matter what port it is plugged into. The PC that patch cord goes to says "network cable unplugged." All other PCs linked to the switch have connectivity. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

If the problem follows the patch cable, sounds like a bad patch cable or internal cable run issue.
With the port led blinking, your probably getting some minor electrical connectivity, but more than likely you have some wire/wires broke or pinched somewhere in your cable. Try another patch cable, and if that doesn't work and you can connect another pc to that port on the switch and it work fine, then get someone in there with a cable scanner to scan you cable.

Sounds like someone has a cable identifier plugged into that drop.

Thanks for the replies. Turns out it was the cable running to the jack on the wall. Replaced the cable run and it worked fine. I guess it was just a weird cooincidence that the cable went bad the same day the switch was replaced.

Thanks
