I have a situation where, when using procomm to talk to my PBX, I have several letters which will not respond(won't type-not on screen) and no numbers are available. If I hit the "shift" key, the letter, as a cap, will appear. Nothing will bring up the numbers.

Any clues?

Thanks,

Mike Bingham

Sound like you may be using the wrong terminal type. Does the pbx prompt you for a terminal type when you log in? If so, then make sure you are using the correct type. If not, then perhaps you should try ANSI-BBS or VT-100. I am familiar with Avaya/Lucent/AT&T PBXs and they generally except ATT-4410 and VT-100 terminals (4410 Prefered).

If you turn on your Quick Select line (under your View dropdown menu), then you will be able to quickly select between one terminal type and the next.

If you have the correct terminal emulation set, here are is another item to check. If you have modified Procomm's translate table, then you might see a problem like this. The Translate Table (accessible via the Options | Translate Table Editor menu item) lets you convert incoming and/or outgoing characters to another value, or to no value at all. It might be worthwhile to take a look at this and make sure none of the characters you are trying to send have been remapped to a different value.
