I did a few searches and did not find the exact answer i was looking for.

I have a Nortel 81c with a TTY port that is currently configured to send operator call info to a okidata printer.

I would like to get rid of the printer and replace it with a pc with procomm running to capture all the info and save it to a network drive. Since it is already connected to the printer via rj11\db25 connection, i was told it wouold be just as easy as disconnecting it and plugging it straight into com1 of the pc.

My question, is there anything that I need to configure on the procomm side (ie baud rate, term type, etc) in order for the info to come through or will procomm automatically detect the connection? If i do need to make changes what would the changes be?

Thanks!!

Is it a serial or parallel port? If serial, then you should be able to hook it up to your PC and have Procomm receive the data. Depending on the system, you may need either a standard serial cable or a null modem cable to make the connection.

You will need to configure Procomm so that it is using the same settings that the system. To get this information, you'll likely need to consult the Nortel documentation or check with someone in charge of the system.

The CDR-port on your 81c should work just as any other
TTY-port on the switch.
Just set the speed/bit/parity in ProComm to the same as
the port is configured with in the switch.

TYPE ADAN TTY
You probably need a null-modem adaptor between the
switch and the PC.
