Yes, there's probably a way to identify the CPU from Intel's naming scheme. But try this to see if it gives you what you're looking for:
1) Go to Start -> Run
2) Type dxdiag and hit enter
3) The first tab should show you some general system information including your CPU Speed (i.e. PIII 800Mhz)

start-->run-->msinfo32 will show you the approximate clock speed it is running at. It will also show the family/model/stepping. I'm not sure if it can tell if a processor is overclocked though.
dxdiag seems to be exactly what you're looking for. just combine the two, one will show the family, model and stepping, the other will show you a translation to a processor name.
