I Have an Asus A7N8X MoB0, with a AMD Athlon xp 3200+ barton core processor running on Windows XP.

Im looking for free software that cools the processor (ex. coolerxp).

If anybody knows were I can Download it I'l apreciate the help.

Thanks,
Alfredo

Forget it.. they don't work.. If you want your CPU to run cooler, invest in a better heatsink and fan or go to water-cooling !!

Alfredo240, SESaskDFC is right. No software can really cool your PC...Don't bother.

If you want to keep your CPU a little cooler without spending too much money, add some case fans to your PC. Stick one on the front (sucking in) and one one the rear (blowing out). This will allow a slipstream of cool air through the case and will drop the CPU temp down. You can also stick a case fan on the side (sucking in) to further increase cool air.

Hi-
Actually, if you are running XP then you already have a running process (by default) called System Idle. This is supposed to cool the processor when it is not being used - but I have never seen it do much. I originally also ran cpuidle which came with my motherboard, this is third party software which is supposed to do the same thing - in fact my temperature dropped by 4 degrees when I turned it off!!!
As the above posts say - a hardware solution is much more effective. Case fans help a lot - and also reduce the temperature of everything else as well as the processor - hard drives, etc. How the processor was originally mounted - just on the standard heat conducting pads, or using thermal grease like Arctic Silver - also makes a big difference. As SESaskDFC said - a good cpu fan also helps. Athlon XP's do run hot though, so if you compare them to P4's the XP's will always run hotter - other factors being equal.
