Hi there;
I have a particular application that was running fine on my computer up until a couple of days ago. The application is Vegas Movie Studio, and it is the only application I am having this problem with. The problem is that when I start that application, it shows up as a process in the task manager, but is not in the application tab, and it never really "starts" up....... Any ideas out there why? Also, I have removed and re-installed it several times to see if that would help but the problem still exists.
Thanks for any suggestions.....

could be a number of things, from registry problem to file corruption...

I would suggest the following:

1. Uninstall the APP again...
2. download and install CCleaner...
3. run CCleaner, first clean out all unnecessary files, then run a registry fix...
4. reboot and reinstall Vegas Movie Studio...

if it works then you are good to go... if it does not, then it is time to delve deeper...

OK, I ran the CCleaner and it did seem to find a few things, they have been fixed, the software re-installed, etc.... and I still have the problem. Thank you for the info on the known problem with this software..... maybe that is just what it is. But I was running this program with no problems for about 3-4 weeks up until yesterday........... Not sure what I should do now.....

Have you tried running the program from Safe Mode, that's if it works in Safe Mode under normal circumstances?

Also try a different user in Normal Mode in case your current Profile has picked up a bit of corruption.

System Restore is another consideration just to get back to a point before the trouble began.

If it did work in Safe Mode then this would be the next step to try. If it fails to run in Safe Mode because of non loading Services or Drivers (by design) then it is still worth trying the following.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
