procedure number out of range

This has been bugging me for sme time now and I have laomost resiged without finding a solution for it. I get this when I am rying to add a windows machine to the samba domain. Happens only with some win2k machines and most of winxp machines. Lists.samba.org says that the error might be something to do with my domain name being odd numbered.
Please advise. Has anyone else eveer encounter this before.
