procedure number out of range

I have been grappling with this issue unsuccessfully. This happens only with some machines and hence its all the more mysterious.
whenever I try to add some win2k machines to the samba domain, I get procedure number out of range. Now there was this consignment of boxes we received, but everthing else went through. Only ine win2k and winXP threw
There were some listings in lists.samba.org but it wasnt comprehensive in solving the issue.

Hi,

Seems odd if it's inconsistent. I have seen it said that this can be overcome by removing :

unix password sync = yes

from the smb.conf file while creating the machine accounts. You could try that...
