I continue to have problems with Microsoft Word 2000 on the office computer using Windows ME. We experience apparent memory problems. The error message says "There is not enough memory available." when opening a file. Yesterday it opened a file with some fifty pages, the first two were fine but the remainder had blank pages with a line of symbols and letters at the head of each one. We have over 60% memory available on the hard drive and plenty of RAM.
We can successfully run Publisher and Microsoft Word Processor. What's up with Word? Thanks. -Rockey

The immediate solution is to turn off the grammar tool in Word. Choose Options from the Tools menu and click the Spelling and Grammar tab. Uncheck "Check grammar as you type" and "Check Grammar with Spelling". The cause of this bug: If more than one User Profile is used on a computer, the Dutch, French, German, and Spanish grammar dictionaries for Office 97 work only for the User who first uses it. Subsequent users get the error message: There is not enough memory or disk space to run the grammar checker. This message may also appear when the second User checks spelling in one of these languages, since by default the spelling and grammar checkers run concurrently. This is caused a bug in the auto-registration of these grammar tools in the CURRENT_USER/Software/Novell and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Novell sections of the registry.

When one of these grammar dictionaries is first used, it is auto-registered in two areas of the registry-the Current User and Local Machine data files. Current User data files are specific to each User Profile, while the Local Machine data file is used for all User Profiles. When more than one person uses the same PC, each person can log on with his or her own user name and password. If more than one User Profile is established on a computer, using the instructions below are necessary to ensure that the proofing tools are accessible for each User Profile.
