I'm running Outlook 2003 (on XP SP2) and have it setup to create new e-mails through Word. When I go to create a new e-mail, Outlook grinds to a halt and hangs as it tries to load Word. After closing down the frozen window, I try to create a new e-mail and it loads fine, although it still runs pretty slow.

I've reinstalled office, but get the same behavior. The only solution i've found was this;

Which, being honest, wasn't very helpful.

The only way to get round it is to switch off the "Create e-mail through Word", but surely there's another solution. Any ideas?

Do this test. Log onto the problem machine as a different user (create an ID if you have to) and see if the same thing happens. If not, it's a logon profile corruption, so you'll need to recreate the Windows profile that you've been using.
