I have a customer who is having problems transfering calls directly to VM. It seems to be a frequent problem which is happening on both of the operators phones, just never when I'm around. VM seems to be answering because ext number comes up on the display and after dialing the ext number displays call transfered. The call just seems to be put on hold and never does go into the mailbox. It is a MICS with NAM VM. They have a T1 and 1 analog line going into the system and the problem happens on both. The only way to get the call to go when it happens is to transfer to the ext and the call is forwarded after the designated number of rings. Any Suggestions??

Are there enough available channels in the NAM to handle the message volume? Another thought, are the Rls numbers of the VMail and MICS known to be completely compatable? Some combinations have bugs.

I've run into somthing similar to this a few times and it was that the attendent was using the button to try to transfer instead of actually dialing the mailbox number. Feature 9 8 6 will only accept a manualy input mailbox number but receptionists want to use the speed buttons on their phones and that just puts the original caller on hold while the attendent makes a second call to the extension, when the attendent releases the call the original caller is still on hold and the call to the dn is dropped

The VM is r4.0 and the system which has been upgraded from r3.0 to r4.0. It is a 6 port VM and VM seems to be answering because it asks for the ext # on the display so I don't believe it is a size issue. The operators are dialing the ext #'s when using the F986. Thanks for the responses.

Yesterday I actually got the problem to happen consistantly for me. After picking up the call dialing F986 waiting for it to display mailbox # and dialing it, it would just leave the call on hold. At that time there the lines only rang on the operators phone and did not appear. I made line 26, their only analog line, appear and ring and the target line ring only and the problem went away for me. After talking with them later in the day they said instead of that problem they were getting a no party connect after dialing the mailbox number.

It sounds like either the caller is hanging up or they are being disconnected. IF you pick up your handset with out grapping a line and then hit feature 986 when you try to enter the extension number you will get no party to connect.

Make sure you are not putting the call on hold first.

Let me know if this helps.

I had problems like you . customers were trying to use 5 to forward the calls and the calls were not forwarding. I unplugged the voicemail for two minutes and plugged back in and waited three or four minutes and the system started to work fine after that.
