Problems with the tapetest utility in Arcserve v9

I have used the tapetest command to erase tapes at the beggining of my backup jobs for years with Arcserve 6.5,6.61 & 2000 without any problems. I have recently upgraded a few of my servers to Arcserve V9. I cannot get this command to work with V9. It works it I go to a command prompt and type it in or if I create a bat file and run it manually, but it will not run if I add the tapestest -z -d1 command or the bat file and its path to the pre/post option, run command before each job line. I have verified the path is correct. It does this on more than one machine. My workaround is to use Windows Task Scheduler to run my bat file, but I would rather not do it this way. Any ideas? Thanks
