Starting my script from cron causes problems with telnet.
I have set env(TERM), env(SHELL), env(HOME) and env(PATH) in the script and spawn telnet with the full path.
It seems that the process is started but times out when I'm waiting for the login-prompt.

The same script runs without problems without cron. What do I have to change?

Chapter 17 of exploring expect has all the answers for running expect scripts from cron.
If you need more help post your script.

I tried everything of chapter 17 that I thought could be the problem but still I get no answer to my

expect "NetLogin:"

this times out ...

There's not enough information for me to guess at the cause. Therefor, I'd recommend enabling Expect's diagnostic output and seeing what it reports. The exp_internal command enables and disables diagnostic output, either to the standard error channel or to a logging file. See Chapter 7 of the Exploring Expect book for information on its use. - Ken Jones, President, ken@avia-training.com
