I have a 3Com 4924 Gigabit switch
Operational Version: 1.43
Hardware Version : 0
Boot Version : 1.01

Port 25 is fibre to a Cisco 7200 fibre port.

I have set up multiple VLANs from the Cisco to the 3Com - all work - but I can not use VLAN 1 from the Cisco???

Is there something magic about VLAN 1 that means it can not be trunk-ed?

VLAN 1 is usually set as the default VLAN or PVID. On the 3Com switch remove port 25 from VLAN 1 and re-add the port as a tagged (802.1Q) member of VLAN 1. That should allow VLAN 1 to traverse the trunk on the 7200.
