Problems with subclassing in Oracle Form Builder 6i

We are experiencing problems in our installation where we are not offered 'the little grey box' when clicking in the subclass information on the property pallette in Forms Builder. Also, when using a subclassed block, the items default values are not being passed through to the form which is using it.

Has anyone else come across this ?
Forms Version is 6.0.8.11.3
