problems with startup afer mcafee install

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had this problem, or could help me, I have just installed virus scan 4.5, and service pack 1. Now when I boot my Win 98 machine, it gets to the windows splash screen, and then starts making a beeping noise. The only way that I can get it to boot is in safe mode, or selective startup where I don't allow anything that has to do with the virus scan to be started up. I already tried uninstalling, and reinstalling, with no avail. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

I have the exact same problem on my Windows '98 computer. If I enable Virus Scan the computer locks up. I have to re-boot in safe mode and disable it to get it to work again. Help.

I've encountered the same problem. seems there is a dos scan that takes place in the autoexec.bat. Try remming out that scan and 98 will probably not hang.
