Hello,
I have a sendmail server in linux RedHat 7.1 and the smtp server is not running. I read that sendmail includes the smtp option but in my sendmail that don't run.
I reinstall several times sendmail but the problem continue.

Please help me!!!

Thanks and regards.

Is sendmail set to start on boot up? If you want sendmail to run as a server, go to your main menu and click Programs > System > Control Panel. The Control Panel should have an option to select what you want to start at boot up. Check the Level 5 list (the far right column) and see if sendmail is on the list. If not, select it from the list on the left and add it to the Level 5 start list.

What happens when u try to send/recieve mail??
What error do you get?
Also, are you trying to fetch mail over the network, maybe over the internet??

Then you need a pop server.
Do a search for "qpopper", that will get u started.
You also have to make sure all your network files are correct, escpesially /etc/hosts and /etc/HOSTNAME...

smtp uses port 25 to handle mail, pop uses 110 to contact mail server.
These ports has to be open in your firewall aswell..
