We're using Netbackup 6.x on a HPUX server

The scenario is we're restoring files from HPUX server A to HPUX server B.

The owner of the file on server A is "user1" with a UID of 110.

That same user exists on server B but with UID of 104. Another user "user2" has UID=110.

The problem is that when the files are restored to server B they are owned by the "user2" instead of as "user1". Other than changing the UID in the /etc/password file....how can we force netbackup to restore the files as "user1" on Server B??

Cheers

You cannot as the files retain the permissions, this includes the uid and guid

chown user1 /filename

Just because the VERITAS documentation states a certain thing does not make it a fact and that is truth.

Also, instead of restoring the files to their orginal locationon the second server. Try restoring them to a specific folder so that changing the file owner is easier.
