I've encountered two problems when using the "Import Spreadsheet Wizard" in MS Access 2003 to import Excel spreadsheets:
1) When I get to the screen that shows the fields and sample data, I can't change the "Data Type" in the "Field Options" area at the top. There are times I'd like to change the data type to something other than what's assumed by MS Access. "Data Type" does show the data type of each field, but it's grayed out and won't let me change anything. How do I fix this?
2) In some Excel spreadsheets, when I use the "Import Spreadsheet Wizard", I get an error message (twice) that says "Method 'Columns' of object 'IImexGrid' failed". It doesn't appear to affect the import that I can tell, but what causes this error? And is it fixable? It doesn't happen in all Excel spreadsheets - only a few.
Thanks in advance for any help offered!
