We have an application running in a 2003 Standard Edition Server, we access this application via Terminal services 6.1.

Problem: we are finding out that quite a few printers are NOT compatible with Terminal Services. We also found out that there are several printers that can not be installed in a 2003 server because they do not a good 2003 driver.

Does any one has a listing of what printers will work with 2003 server? and a listing of what printers are compatible with Terminal Services?

This information will be of a great help for us, I have tried to get this info from Microsoft but I have been unable find it.

Thanks in advance

Joe

This is a good list for HP and Citrix/Terminal Services

You can also install client drivers on the server for clients coming in to TS. Such as drivers for XP, Vista, and other OS's

Most manufacturers have a Generic Driver that will do the trick.

it does not always have to be a Windows 2003 Server driver.

We are using drivers for XP etc, but it is trial an error situation. In many cases the client ask us what model printer they should buy, I would like to be able to give then a model that we know it will work with no problems, but we do not have the resources to test all the printers in the market.

I was hoping that there was an available listing.

I have never had an issue with HP printers from my experience. I always recommend the PCL5e drivers. The PCL6 seem to have issues (sometimes)

In our contract with our client we recommend HP printers with PCL drivers, but a lot of clients ignore the recommendation and instead buy the 29.95 special made by "El Chipo" printer manufacture in order to save money and expect us to expend $$$ in time and effort to make their cheap printer work.

If we do not do it then they complaint that our software "Is a piece of junk" and make sure this complain is spread trough the industry we serve. Obviously these individuals are complete ignorant of computer technology, but try to tell then this fact.

Most HP printers will work, but some will not. If I have a listing of approved printers then I can send it to these clients and quote the contract.

Thanks

Joe

I believe you will have a problem finding a "All-In-One" document on approved printers for TS.

Think about all of the printers out there...even the El-Cheapo's...Microsoft will in no way maintain a list that can change daily.

Your only solution is to go to each manufacturers web site and see if they have an approved list like HP's above...but GOOD LUCK in that endeavour.

I've never had an issue with any Xerox, HP, or Lexmark printer on terminal services. I always install the drivers that come with the printer or all-in-one on the terminal server.

Cheers.
