Problems with PDF export

We produce our PDF’s via Crystal Reports and PDF print queue to retain the print quality and positioning on the page i.e. when using the PDF export option that Crystal has crystal shrinks the text slightly and as such the position on the page is slightly out. The resultant version is then not of an acceptable customer quality and given that Chains attempts to index fields based on the screen it’s no longer able to find those fields"

When you say "PDF print queue", does that mean you're printing to .pdf? If so, check the printer preferences.

This is a known issue with PDF exports and it requires a registry setting change to resolve it. You don't mention which version of Crystal you're using, but a quick search on SCN came up with this for Crystal 2011:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BusinessObjects\Suite 12.0\Crystal Reports\Export\Pdf]"ForceLargerFonts"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BusinessObjects\Suite 12.0\Crystal Reports\Export\Pdf]"UsePrecisePositioningForText"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BusinessObjects\Suite 12.0\Crystal Reports\Export\Pdf]"TruncationAdjustment"=dword:00000002

If you're on Crystal 2008 or 2013, the "Suite" number might be different. If you're using an earlier version of Crystal, the key itself is different, but you might be able to find it by looking under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE.
