After we put the card in, we gained the additional mailboxes; but also gained some strange and seemingly unrelated side effects.

Calls were randomly being cut off, and when a call was coming in it appeared to be ringing on 2 lines. Only one of the lines actually had a call.

Once we removed the card, things went back to normal.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
D

Did you assign the new voice mail ports to Hunt Group 7 and their Transfer Return Extension to 10?

As Tommy posted, you can't just put them in with out doing the associated programming to add the 2 new VMS ports in Hunt Group 7

Don't forget to remove line ringing on the new vmail ports and assign privacy! Chances are good the "cut offs" are people picking up on calls in progress and the 2 lines ringing issue is multiple ports answering the same call.

Is auto extension privacy programmed for the 2 new voice mail extensions?

Don't have to remove the line ringing when they are properly put into hunt group 7. Even though under centralized programming it appears that the ports have immediate ring, the hunt group 7 features take over and present the calls with mode codes instead.

Personally, I don't program privacy for voice mail ports, so someone CAN barge into a call that has disappeared into voice mail. With auto line select and auto answer on ringing calls, someone has to really try to barge in.

Hi all,
I do assign privacy on the voicemail ports unless the customer asks me not to. I have had people pushing the wrong line button to get the wrong caller. Personal preferance, that's a topic I sometimes cover when setting up the system.
