One user on our network has a problem with printing out a document that used the auto-text feature to input the page numbers in a header of a document. This document is used by many people as template and has resulted in no other problems from other users. The problem is that in the document view and the print preview the header states: Page 1 of 5, Page 2 of 5... and so on. However, when she prints the document the header comes out as: Page 1 of 1, Page 2 of 2...

We are using Office 2000 on Windows 98 second edition

Hi Brunei.

Tools-Options.

Save tab: turn off both allow background saves and allow fast saves

Print tab: turn off allow background printing and "update fields should be ON

This should work for future documents.

For this one, user may now need to go into header/footer, hit ctrl-a to select all and hit F9 to manually update, or do a print preview to get the numbers to show right in the previously created documents.
