If you are having trouble installing Livelink on a Windows Server and Oracle is running fine on 8.1.7 but Livelink simply won't install and you keep getting errors about not being able to create a cursor...look in your system32 directory for a file called "ociw32.dll" and if you look at the properties of that file you will see it is from Oracle and version 7.x.

That file is a hangover from Oracle 7 and if you had MTS running when you uninstalled Oracle 7 or upgraded to Oracle 8, that file would not have uninstalled, leaving you with this problem.

If you can delete it do. If you can't then try from the command prompt with as many services and apps shut down as possible. If you still can't create a bootable floppy with enough tools to let you go find and delete the file, then everything will work fine.

You might also consider installing a second copy of Windows minimal install in another directory so you can boot to that in an emergency...not a bad idea anyway.

Ollie ;-)
