Did any one encounter this problem before. !

I was wondering whether this is the first instance of such a problem, or has CA or even any one encountered this somewhere?

Here is the scenario.

I am running WinNT4.0/SP6a/2GBRAM.
On this machine there are ArcServe products like.
1. ArcServe Base product 2000
2 ArcServe Open file agent 7.0(AOFA)
3. ArcServe Lotus Notes agent 7.1(LNA)

Other that the above I have Domino mail server 5.0.5 with uLotus mail dbs (52GB).

The problem occurs when I try to backup all notes dbs (52GB) by using LNA on the above Domino machine.

Every time when a LNA job is submitted to ArcServe, it estimates that there is only 45-34 GB of dbs rather then 52GB.

There are no errors show under joblog, arcserve log, NT event viewer. The job is successfully completed without any error, only with 43-45GB. I suspected it could be the dbs being corrupted. But that's not the case.

I actually tried to breakdown the job into further 2 job.
A-M & O-Z.
There was no problem when backing up A-M. But O-Z failed.
I checked the files size for each job. It doesn’t goes beyond 32GB. The log file showed that it could'y connect to the LNA agent.

It is quite surprising & strange to see why this is happening.

There is no problem when I try to use AOFA to backup all 52GB.The backup is successfully with 52GB of dbs. It only when LNA fails to do its task of backing up all 52GB dbs

The log file for dbanotes doesn’t show anything.
Even by enabling the trace debug parameter to level 2 also doesn’t show much info.

FYI, a call has been log to ArcServe. But this issue has been dragging for 2 months or so. Still no actual conclusion or even a workaround solution from the support team.

I hope some one in the forum may have encounter this issue or could just guide me through what could be wrong.

I appreciate you help.
Thanks in advance & Hoping for an early response.

Personally, I would scrap the LNA and get your backup job to stop domino as a pre operation before backing up the contents of your notes server. The job can the restart notes as a post operation.

This has worked successfully for me for 2 years now. Mind you, I have a cluster so if one node is down, the otehr one is still up. Mind you, who wants to use a notes server at 2am in the morning?
