Hi,

I'm currently trying to link MS Access 2003 (frontend) with MS SQL server Express 2005 (backend), I created an ODBC file source and tried to connect to it through the link to it by going to file, Get external data - link table data. This brings me into the link window where then you select the file type you want to link to, ODBC, unfortunately as soon as I do this the link table disappears and I don't get the option of choosing the ODBC filesource I created. Am I doing something monumentally wrong? Could someone please help me.

Thanks

Hi I have managed to fix the problem

Found another user who had a similar problem turns out Norton is the culprit. Solved it by:

1. Norton NIS - Antivirus
Options > NAV > Miscellaneous / Unclick (switch off) "Turn Office Plug-in On"

2. Rebooting PC

Hope this helps anyone in a similar predicament.

Kind regards
