Problems with layers!!!

I'm developing a web site using an DHTML-Javascript menu, but on IE the layer apears under the "select" controls.
Additional info:
- Using <div> tag.
- Both layers and &quot;select&quot;'s have the z-index property set.
- There's no problem with all the other controls or with NS.

Thanks a lot for your help!
