Problems with Jet Direct Carts

Over the last few weeks I have lost 5 JetDirect cards. You can ping them, but can not print to them or telnet to them.

When you print you will get the error message:

Printing-Printer busy or error

Any ideas what may be causing this problem.
 
I can add that if I replace the card the printer will work fine again.
 
What happens when you just create a new port for the existing card? Also, are they static or do you have DHCP?

New ports will do the same thing. All printers are static. The printer will begin working again when a new network card is installed. I am up to six network cards lost.

any power spikes on those circuits? have you had any of the printers looked at - power supply etc?

Which jetdirect cards are you using? The 615's are a failure waiting to happen whereas the 620's seem to hold up well.

There has been a mix of card types, from old to new. I am concerned by power spikes, but this just started up in the last few weeks.

I am going to try and get some testing done on the lines.
