To Whom It May Concern:

I recently bought the ATI Raedon 7500 64MB DDR Video Card for my computer and had some difficulty installing the new card under Windows 2000 Professional with SP2.

Here's what I did: I turned off my computer, took out my new card, turned the computer on, the computer recognized the card, inserted the installation cd to install drivers, but just before completion, a window came up telling me that the ATI driver failed to initialize and is not compatible with the current display adapter. So, I took this as saying that I should've uninstalled the video card from the control panel first. So, I re-inserted my old card and uninstalled it and then put the Raedon card back in but the same thing happened. I've a few other topics here and it seems like those geared at ATI drivers are having the same difficulty. If there a working solution to this problem? If so, I would greatly appreciate any assistance. Thank you.

Jason

Obviously I don't know what version Radeon drivers you have but I would download the latest dated 11/4/2002 from ATI's website .
Make doubly sure in device manager that all display drivers are removed also check in add/remove, then shut down and install card.
Skip all found new hardware etc etc because the file is zipped then install when booted.
Re-boot and hopefully it will find and install card etc.
Martin.
Just trying to help, sometimes falling short, I am only human after all.

I'm not sure but I think I had this error come up with an ATI card before. If I'm not mistaken, let it install as a standard VGA gfx adapter and then install the ATI drivers on top of it. I got the same card you have. On a side note, I wish I had left my PC running Win98SE instead of going to Winxp. Most of my 98 games won't run on XP and my gfx quality has degraded (not fps). Hope this helps.
