Platform: Working with Solaris 2.7 end user installation.
I loaded the Solaris 7 packaged gcc compiler program, but it does not work when installing proftpd. It just says gcc does not work.
Any ideas to what the problem is ? Does any one have a script for testing the gcc compiler ?

output below:

loading cache ./config.cache
checking host system type... sparc-sun-solaris2.7
checking target system type... sparc-sun-solaris2.7
checking build system type... sparc-sun-solaris2.7
checking for gcc... gcc
checking whether the C compiler (gcc ) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler cannot creat
e executables.

do you add to PATH the location of gcc ? usualy installs in "/usr/local/bin" ...
# PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/bin
# export PATH

Regards,

Carlos Almeida,

Yes I have added the path to the system before running the install..

More suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks ..
